Automotive Service Technology
All automotive courses offered with Anchor Bay Community schools are designed to provide students with entry-level skills and training needed to enter the automotive service industry as an Auto Service Technician. Students completing the automotive program will be prepared to take the ASE maintenance and light repair certification test needed to enter the automotive service industry. Completers of the automotive service program will earn articulation credits to post secondary education, a great asset with today’s rising educational costs. Automotive courses are looked upon as a foundation for many advanced positions such as CAD, CNC, and engineering in today’s industries. Students will have the ability to participate in Skills USA, Ford/AAA Student Skills Contest and in the annual MITES Auto Competition. Students will be provided all tools and equipment needed to complete all automotive courses. Coveralls and safety glasses will be provided. Students will work on donated vehicles, customer vehicles, and will have the opportunity to work personally owned vehicles. Automotive service Technology courses are at the middle school south. Shuttle busses will be provided for transportation.
State of Michigan Department of education will recognize these courses as a credit in foreign language, science and a math-related credit.
